Ford Motor Company ADAS Engineer in Chennai, India

Ford’s ADAS EE Application team designs & release hardware and Software; functional integration that provide outstanding behavior for features like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Assist, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist, 360 Camera Systems and so on.

ADAS EE FEATURE OWNER will be responsible of End-to-End Engineering feature solution for both existing and future technologies in the driver assistance area - using cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, as well as powerful ECUs with advanced processing capability and machine vision, to deliver features to the assigned vehicle program in Asia Pacific market with a keen focus on the end customer's user experience.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3 - 6 Years of experience in ADAS Electronics.

  • Experience with radar/Front Windshield camera or LIDAR or feature model integration or software development

  • Knowledge in authoring / understanding of Feature Requirements, Specification Documents & Feature verification method.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with vehicle electrical system/software requirements

  • Ability to understand system level functional requirements/behavior.

  • Electrical Systems Engineering experience including understanding of systems engineering V model

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with other global organizations within both the technical and business communities.

  • Working Knowledge on Automotive Communication Protocols – LIN ; CAN / ETHERNET

  • Programming Experience : MATLAB/ C / Python

  • Vector Tool Experience : CANalyzer / CANoe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead with tier 1 supplier, ADAS commodity engineers on the feature design and integration of camera/radar-based driver assistance features

  • Lead ADAS feature deployment (like Driver Alert, Blind Spot Assist, Park Assists, Intelligent Lightings, Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control….). Own feature interfaces and develop interface requirements through all affected parties (Vehicle engineering, Attribute owner & commodity engineering) of affected subsystems/components.

  • Own feature description and communicate to vehicle teams /feature planning and marketing.

  • Lead development of new features at the systems engineering level from early feature development to production and manage feature upgrade and migration plan

  • Develop high level network, wiring and power distribution topologies / schematics / block diagrams

  • Allocate features and functions across ADAS subsystems to meet cost, quality and feature performance targets

  • Understand system interactions for the cameras (both as a visual image and as a sensor), Radars(mid/long/short range) in terms of vehicle dynamics to identify possible improvements and trade-offs. Identify changes needed to improve performance and meet objectives

  • Performs field assessments and drive validation and verification plan for feature(s)

  • Understand and document customer feature requirements using requirements management tools. Manage customer requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations

  • Allocate and expand customer feature requirements into actionable system requirements for electrical and software disciplines.

  • Establish Feature objectives and ensure system operation to meet the objectives through structured component, sub-system, and system level test methodologies

  • Develop relationships with the supply base to learn about the latest technologies and possible implementations

Bachelor Degree in EEE/ECE/E&I/CSE
