Ford Motor Company Product Development Sensor Core Design Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

What you'll do...

NOx Sensors is a sensor that uses ceramic technology and is placed in exhaust stream to sense NOx in the exhaust gases. There is also an electronics module attached to the sensor through a pigtail that has hardware and software to convert the signal into usable information to the vehicle Powertrain Control Module. The position is unique in that the candidate will get experience in sensing technology as well as electronics Software and Hardware.

Manage cost, quality, and timing of the NOx in support of vehicle program timing

Manage and Coordinate two Full Service Supplier on NOx globally to assure all program tasks are delivered in a timely manner.

Develop and manage all key reliability documentation including:

Review and sign off of supplier component design failure mode effects analysis.

Development, tracking, reporting and sign off of DV/PV plan.

Development and delivery of quality improvement plan for given Components

Lead component level APQP & PPAP activities.

Generation of 5D/8D documentation for issues affecting program delivery timing.

Resolution of related development and production issues.

Delivery of hardware per Timing milestones.

Development and/or update engineering specifications and system design specifications as required.

Support System, Calibration, and Launch personnel as required

You'll have...

BS Engineering required.

2 years of experience in Mechanical or Electronics design and development required.

Some limited travel required (10%).

Even better, you may have...

MS in Engineering preferred.

Experience with Reliability documentation (FMEA, Boundary diagrams, Design Verification, etc.)

Powertrain Electronics experience preferred but not required.

Ability to work independently and manage complex products.

Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills.
