Ford Motor Company Plant Communications and Engagement Lead, BlueOval Battery Plant, Michigan in Marshall, Michigan

You’ll be a key part of the launch team that will help bring the electrification revolution to driveways, job sites, and highways everywhere. BlueOval Battery Park Michigan will produce the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells to power the next-generation Ford EV passenger vehicles and trucks under development.

This new wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company will create more than 1,700 jobs when production begins in 2026.

This role will start remote and then will be working hybrid out of Marshall, MI, with expectation to be on-Site at Marshall once building construction and timing is established (relocation package available).

You’ll also…

  • Function as an integral part of the plant operating committee and the communications subject matter expert for the facility

  • Lead the development and execution of multifaceted communications strategies for BlueOval Battery Michigan involving storytelling, workforce engagement, events, signage and other methods

  • Develop communications strategies and look for innovative ways to engage future workforce based on hiring timelines

  • Manage the local social media group(s) and digital presence, and help employees to engage across various channels

  • Create and nurture relationships with key local media and local community by fostering relationships with local stakeholders

  • Serve as point of contact for events with local schools, community organizations, and for speaking engagements

  • Act as a liaison between BlueOval Battery Michigan and Ford key stakeholders

  • Report on and write articles about major cost and quality wins, innovations, events, and activities taking place at local plant for company-wide distribution

  • Lead internal communications and events, such as Town Halls, round tables, skip levels and employee communication activities

  • Write, format and distribute internal monthly newsletters

  • Write and/or film leadership messages and presentations to address employees with company and location-specific information as needed

  • Continuous personal development of functional competencies and leadership agilities

  • Play a leadership role in planning and executing major events at your site like Family Open Houses, Spirit Days, press conferences, executive visits and more

  • Stay connected to major company and industry news

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, Communications or related field

  • Experience in communications, media relations or journalism

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop/InDesign/Premiere and creativity to generate original content

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Top-notch organizational and multi-tasking abilities

  • Self-starter attitude

  • Personal experience with social media and an understanding of its role in business

  • Ongoing awareness of local or regional events and media environment

  • Professional and interpersonal maturity with a proven track record of successful relationship building

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for the automotive industry

  • Prior manufacturing communications experience

This position is a salary grade 6.

This role will start remote and then will be working hybrid out of Marshall, MI, with expectation to be on-Site at Marshall once building construction and timing is established (relocation package available).

It is anticipated that within 30 days of your employment with Ford, you will become a secondee of BlueOval Battery Michigan LLC. A secondee is an employee who will continue to be employed by Ford Motor Company but work at BlueOval Battery Michigan, Ford’s wholly owned subsidiary. Afterwards it is anticipated that within 8 months of your employment with Ford, you will become an employee of the Ford’s fully owned subsidiary of BlueOval Battery Michigan LLC. The terms and conditions of your employment with the separate BlueOval Battery Michigan LLC company will be communicated to you in advance of your transition to that entity. You will remain an at-will employee at all times during your employment with Ford or any Ford affiliate or subsidiary with which you later become employed.
